Immamusys: Feel the Endless Original Music

Immamusys, a whole different music based on emotions

Why 'feel the music'? Shouldn't that be 'listen to the music'? No, the first one is just as exactly what I would like to tell you about. It's really about how you feel or what you feel that initiates original music to play endlessly.

For example, you feel so bad about something, this kind of software understands your emotion, translates it into a computer language and then plays an original music that will make you feel relax and calmed.

This emotion-response software is called Immamusys, an acronym for Intelligent Multiagent Music System. An Artificial intelligence application that enables original, copyright-free and emotion-inspiring music to be played continuously.

Inmamusys was designed by UGR researchers Miguel Delgado, Waldo Fajardo and Miguel Molina. The main objective of the project was mainly to revolutionalize our listening experience, from canned repetitive music to an endless all-original music that inspires.

A survey was performed to evaluate Immamusys, and results showed that the respondents relate well to the computer-generated music.

Hatsune Sings Like The Real Thing

Meet Hatsune Miku HRP-4c, the humanoid singing sensation

I couldn't believe what I saw an hour ago at You tube. A humanoid is singing like a real superstar! Wow, artificial intelligence really does a great job at making human-like robots.

Orginally, Hatsune Miku is a japanese anime character of a manga series shown in an anime episode 13 of Zoku Sayonara Zetsub? Sensei in which she (and other Vocaloids) auditioned to dub Otonashi Meru's voice.

Today, Hatsune Miku HRP-4c has transformed into the newest singing sensation in the world of robots. She's lovely and she looks like Lady Gaga, only with her green hair which makes the difference. Her skin looks real, if you watch it from the video, her cheeks nudges when she sings, her eyes make good expressions too. Even if I don't understand what she's singing, the music is just as lovely as her voice. Watch it here, perhaps you'll become one of her fans too.

Pentagon has been doing a project through its research arm DARPA. The project, named Advanced Soldier's Sensor Information System and Technology or ASSIST's main objective is to record everything in a soldier's life during actual combat. This project was formerly known as Lifelog, which the Pentagon aborted because of its vague and broad concept.

ASSIST, on the other hand, is made of sensors that is embedded in a soldier's gear that would record everything what a soldier does, hears, or sees. It's vision is much clearer than its predecessor, Lifelog. ASSIST has addressed some if not all of the issues, such as personal privacy and usability, that Lifelog failed to comply.

Similarly, ASSIST works like an electronic diary, but the focus is of the soldier's life during combat. The data that will be gathered will then be compiled into digital memories, so that battle commanders will have a better understanding of how the combat unfolded.

Meet Akibot, The Intelligent Twitter Clone

Maybe you're one of the millions of followers on Twitter. But do you know that twitter has a clone? Imagine typing your blogs. Before you were able to publish them, your twitter page has tracked all the resources of your articles . Imagine again, you are looking for the profiles of your followers, and twitter suddenly pops-up on screen to display who's and what's really on your mind. Sounds silly, but this is really the concept of Akibot, an A.I. bot designed by a twitter follower.

Akibot combines the collective intelligence provided by microblogging with an artificial intelligence engine that lets the service take action on the messages posted. This is how it works. For example you posted a message like "we'll meet tomorrow at the conference room at 8 am". Akibot would then translate the message into a service. It understands your message, then performs actions like setting an appointment to your team and even sends you and your colleagues a reminder in the form of a text message or email when the meeting time drew near.

Akibot can do several other tasks, as long as you post the message first, then let Akibot do the rest.

Robot Wheelchair with its creators at MIT

Sounds like magic! It feels good to know that there are people who make great solutions for society's disabling problems. One of these remarkable innovations was done by two MIT researchers who developed a robot wheelchair which brings you anywhere in your house, just by simple verbal commands.

It's a personalized wheelchair wherein, the person who uses it will identify and record different locations in his house or work area. The robot wheelchair will find its way wherever you want to go without pressing on some buttons or sensors. It's a system that can learn and adapt to the users environment.

This machine is mostly beneficial to the permanently disabled individuals including stroke patients. Anyone can use it actually, but healthy persons are discouraged to use it because it will make them timid. For now, the wheelchair prototype relies on a WiFi system to make its maps and then navigate through them, which requires setting up a network of WiFi nodes around the facility in advance.
